Job summary

Wake Technical Community College seeks an Associate Department Head, Cybersecurity to lead the Cybersecurity faculty and staff while also teaching. The onsite role in Raleigh, NC includes management of scheduling, curriculum development, and instructor oversight.

The candidate will partner with the Department Head to drive enrollment growth, ensure policy alignment, and support professional development for faculty. Strong MS Office skills and teaching experience are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Network Management, or a related field.
  • Two years of teaching experience in a related field.
  • Supervisory experience in an academic setting or demonstrated leadership experience.

Responsibilities

  • Keep the Department Head informed about the operation of the supervisory unit, as applicable.
  • Assist with scheduling classes and creating faculty schedules, as assigned.
  • Support hiring, evaluating, and supervising adjunct faculty, as assigned.
  • Help address and resolve faculty and student concerns and issues.
  • Provide effective instruction for assigned course(s).
  • Contribute to enrollment growth by maintaining records and gathering and analyzing departmental data.
  • Maintain accurate departmental materials, including the catalog, website, and brochure, and promote courses offered by the department.
  • Project departmental needs and secure resources in a timely manner for staffing, texts, supplies, and/or equipment.
  • Assist with hiring and performance management of full-time faculty, including classroom observations, evaluation, oversight, mentoring, and discipline.
  • Support curriculum and course development.
  • Support faculty professional development and growth; assist students with degree requirement override requests.
  • Assist with collection and analysis of departmental IE assessment data.
  • Ensure departmental syllabi comply with current college and division policies and procedures.
  • Serve as a collaborative partner on the managerial team, including helping create divisional policies and leading a divisional project or committee.
  • Help plan and conduct department meetings.
  • Support and assist faculty with college initiatives (examples include ADA accessibility compliance, technology, grants, and Applied Benchmarking projects).

Job description

Wake Technical Community College is seeking an Associate Department Head, Cybersecurity to provide leadership and direction for the Cybersecurity faculty and staff while also serving as an instructor. This onsite role in Raleigh, NC includes a salary range of USD 69,936 to 87,480 per year.

You will partner with the Department Head to support day-to-day operations, strengthen enrollment growth efforts, and help ensure departmental practices align with college and division policies. The role also supports course instruction, curriculum development, and professional development for faculty.

Key Responsibilities
  • Keep the Department Head informed about the operation of the supervisory unit, as applicable.
  • Assist with scheduling classes and creating faculty schedules, as assigned.
  • Support hiring, evaluating, and supervising adjunct faculty, as assigned.

  • Assist with hiring and performance management of full-time faculty, including classroom observations, evaluation, oversight, mentoring, and discipline.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Network Management, or a related field.
  • Two years of teaching experience in a related field.
  • Supervisory experience in an academic setting or demonstrated leadership experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree with 18 graduate hours in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Network Management, or a related field.
  • Experience in a community college or similar higher education setting.
