https://www.luc.edu/hr/benefits/The Loyola University Chicago Marcella Niehoff School of Nursing ( MNSON ) seeks a dynamic, visionary leader to serve as Associate Dean of Research and Scholarly Innovation. This leadership position brings exceptional opportunities to drive excellence and innovation in nursing research and scholarship by fostering a highly supportive environment for research, scholarship, and innovation in the MNSON that transcends all aspects of the school. This is a 50% administrative and 50% teaching/scholarship/service position with 9-month faculty teaching responsibilities and a 12-month administrative contract.
The Associate Dean of Research and Scholarly Innovation is responsible for the following areas:
- Mission : Champions the MNSON mission by leading the development and execution of a strategic vision for research and scholarly innovation, ensuring alignment with institutional goals and national nursing research priorities.
- Strategy and Oversight : Provides strategic leadership, operational oversight, and guidance to elevate the MNSON research and scholarship enterprise; fosters a culture of research excellence, innovation, and impact at national and global levels.
- Communities of Interest : Strengthens interdisciplinary and interinstitutional research collaborations; collaborates with Department Chairs and Endowed Chair for Nursing Research to mentor and support research-focused faculty in building robust, sustainable programs of research; partners with the Associate Dean for Innovative Partnerships and Faculty Practice to integrate research with practice scholarship.
- Initiatives: Drives the MNSON research agenda by mentoring emerging nurse scientists, expanding collaborative research opportunities across academic units, and enhancing the school's reputation for research excellence.
- Collaboration and Mentoring: Cultivates a thriving research community by fostering collaboration, mentorship, and professional development opportunities for faculty, postdoctoral researchers, and students.
- Benchmarking and Accountability: Establishes clear metrics to assess research productivity, impact, and innovation; leverages internal and external benchmarking data to ensure accountability and continuous advancement of MNSON research initiatives.
- Funding : Expands faculty-led, externally funded research programs with a focus on securing NIH or NIH -equivalent funding; implements strategic initiatives to enhance faculty success in obtaining competitive research grants and funding opportunities.
Minimum Education and/or Work Experience:
- Doctoral degree in nursing or a related field
- Eligible for Illinois licensure as a Registered Nurse
- Eligibility for appointment to the rank of Associate or Full Professor with tenure (Full Professor preferred)
- Sustained track record of NIH or equivalent funding
- Sustained, impactful publication record
- Demonstrated leadership experience in research administration, mentorship, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
