This is a Full-Time Administrative position at grade 18, with an annual salary range of $99,836 to $133,115. The salary offer will be based on education and experience, in alignment with the College’s compensation philosophy and the current Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), if applicable.

The Associate Dean of Adult Education assists the Dean of Adult Education in the leadership, administration, and continuous improvement of Adult Basic Education (ABE), Adult Secondary Education (ASE), and English as a Second Language (ESL) programs. The position provides oversight of instructional operations, faculty supervision, curriculum development, program assessment, student success initiatives, and compliance with state, federal, and institutional requirements. The Associate Dean serves as a key leader in supporting high-quality educational opportunities for adult learners and advancing departmental strategic goals.
1. Master’s degree in adult education, TESOL, or a related field Three years’ experience teaching in an adult education program
2. Two years’ program coordination and supervision experience, experience with staff/faculty evaluation and staff/faculty onboarding and training. Working with collective bargaining units preferred.
3. Two years’ management experience, experience with data interpretation, program implementation, and course scheduling preferred
4. Experience writing and implementing grants, familiarity with ICCB Adult Education & Literacy (or the equivalent) funding and policies
5. Extensive experience working with individuals from various educational, ethnic, and socio-economic backgrounds
6. Ability to problem-solve complex faculty, student, staff, and programmatic issues Strong understanding of best practices in teaching, learning, and assessment

1. Provide leadership and supervision for Adult Education faculty and staff. Recruit, interview, hire, train, schedule, supervise, support, and evaluate full-time faculty, adjunct faculty, and staff. Coordinate faculty workload assignments, professional development activities, substitute coverage, and instructional staffing needs for programs serving approximately 3,000 students annually across multiple instructional sites and online delivery formats.
2. Lead student recruitment, onboarding, assessment, and retention efforts. Coordinate student orientations, communications, placement and assessment activities, and retention initiatives. Provide guidance to students regarding educational pathways and make referrals to appropriate college and community resources to address academic and non-academic barriers to success.
3. Support grant development, implementation, and compliance activities. Collaborate with Adult Education leadership in preparing grant applications, monitoring grant objectives, evaluating program outcomes, and ensuring compliance with applicable state, federal, and institutional requirements. Work with faculty and staff to support continuous program improvement and achievement of grant performance measures.
4. Develop and coordinate partnerships that support adult learner success. Collaborate with internal departments, workforce agencies, educational institutions, and community organizations to provide innovative programming, transition services, workforce pathway opportunities, and student support resources. Coordinate Integrated Career and Academic Preparation System (ICAPS) programming, Adult Education transitions initiatives, and referral partnerships.
5. Provide leadership for curriculum development, assessment, and instructional quality. Lead curriculum development and revision efforts for Adult Basic Education, Adult Secondary Education, and English as a Second Language programs. Manage annual course and program assessment processes; facilitate department meetings; review instructional materials, syllabi, office hours, and assessment documentation; and ensure compliance with institutional and regulatory standards.
6. Plan and coordinate division-wide events and special initiatives. Lead the planning, coordination, and implementation of major Adult Education events, including professional conferences, student transition programs, graduation ceremonies, faculty development activities, and other departmental initiatives that support student engagement and program visibility.
7. Analyze program performance and support strategic decision-making. Collect, interpret, and report program, assessment, enrollment, and student outcome data to identify trends, support accreditation and grant reporting requirements, and guide strategic improvements to programs and services.
