Job summary

Christopher Newport University seeks an Associate Dean for Honors, Research, and Creative Activity to lead the Honors Program and ORCA. This role collaborates with the Vice Provost and Dean of Honors and Interdisciplinary Studies to advance student research, curricular standards, and major university events.

The position oversees budgeting, programmatic initiatives, and engagement with faculty governance bodies to enrich undergraduate scholarship across disciplines.

Qualifications

• Deep passion for undergraduate research, creative scholarship, and honors education.
• Administrative, organizational, and operational skills to resolve complex problems within academic programs.
• Experience in advising undergraduate students, grant writing, event management, and leading complex academic initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Manage Honors Activities curriculum and HONR courses (HONR 010, 020, 030, 040).
• Serve as Instructor of Record, evaluate progress, approve Honors events, and communicate opportunities to students.
• Collaborate with Honors Faculty on course scheduling, five-year reviews, and curricular changes.
• Oversee undergraduate research programs (Research LENS, RAP, Summer Scholars).
• Coordinate stipends and funding for undergraduate research to ensure timely and equitable support.
• Lead strategic planning and assessment for Honors and ORCA; manage budgets and fundraising.
