Job description

The University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Nursing is seeking an accomplished researcher and collaborative leader to serve as its next Associate Dean for Research (ADR).

The ADR is the College’s senior research leader and provides strategic direction for advancing research, scholarship, and external funding across the College of Nursing. Reporting to the Dean, the ADR represents the College within UNMC and the University of Nebraska system on matters related to research and serves as the primary liaison to the UNMC Vice Chancellor for Research.

This position offers an opportunity to shape and grow a research enterprise within a highly collaborative academic health sciences environment. The ADR will mentor faculty and PhD students, facilitate interdisciplinary research, strengthen grant development, and expand external funding through federal agencies, training grants, foundations, corporate partnerships, and other sources. The successful candidate will also maintain an active program of research and scholarship. The successful candidate will also hold the title of a distinguished endowed chair.

The ADR provides overall leadership for the Niedfelt Nursing Research Center (NNRC), including research infrastructure, staffing, budget oversight, proposal development and review, grant compliance, research space, data and analytic resources, and reporting of research outcomes. The ADR works closely with College leadership to align research investments with strategic priorities and strengthen faculty research productivity.

The administrative appointment is approximately 0.50 FTE, with remaining effort in research, teaching, service, and/or practice negotiated based on the candidate’s expertise and College needs.

We are seeking a leader who can combine an ambitious research vision with mentorship, collaboration, and the ability to build the infrastructure and partnerships necessary to expand the College of Nursing’s research impact.

Qualified candidates will hold a doctoral degree and have a strong record of externally funded research, peer-reviewed scholarship, research mentorship, and professional leadership. Candidates must meet qualifications for appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor level and eligibility for Graduate Faculty status. Academic rank is dependent upon qualifications. Terms of employment are in keeping with University of Nebraska policy. Must have or be eligible to apply for a Nebraska nursing license.
