The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Nursing seeks a visionary leader to serve as Associate Dean for Research and Scholarship (ADRS). The ADRS will shape the School's research enterprise, mentor faculty, and drive scholarly activity at a nationally recognised institution in Birmingham, AL.

Reporting to the Dean, the ADRS will promote interdisciplinary collaborations, strengthen doctoral education, and position UAB Nursing for continued NIH funding and impact in health outcomes

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Nursing seeks an accomplished and visionary leader to serve as its next Associate Dean for Research and Scholarship (ADRS).

Ranked among the nation's leading public schools of nursing, UAB School of Nursing is home to approximately 3,300 students, 170 faculty, and 190 staff and is situated within one of the country's premier academic health science centers. The School is recognized for excellence in education, research, and clinical practice and ranked 11th nationally in NIH funding among schools of nursing in 2025.

Reporting directly to Dean Maria R. Shirey, the ADRS serves on the School's executive leadership team and provides strategic leadership for the School's research enterprise, scholarly activities, and doctoral education programs. The ADRS will advance a culture of innovation and scientific excellence, support faculty and investigator success, expand interdisciplinary collaborations, and strengthen the School's national and international research impact.

The successful candidate will hold a research doctorate in nursing or a related discipline, qualify for a tenured appointment at the rank of Professor, and demonstrate a distinguished record of funded research, scholarly achievement, mentorship, and leadership within a research-intensive academic environment. If a nurse, the candidate must be eligible for RN licensure in Alabama.
