Job summary

Rowan University’s School of Veterinary Medicine seeks an Associate Dean for Academic and Faculty Affairs to lead a strategic, spiral curriculum and facilitate faculty recruitment, development, and accreditation efforts. The role partners with deans, department chairs, and HR to advance teaching excellence and workforce readiness.

Qualifications

• DVM or equivalent degree required.
• MS or PhD in a related field preferred.
• Experience in higher education administration and faculty affairs.
• Record of excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service for tenure-track appointment.
• Interest in growing a veterinary program with innovative delivery methods.
• Ability to mentor junior faculty and collaborate with senior faculty.
• Experience with promotion, tenure, and faculty career progression.
• Evidence of interdisciplinary leadership and external partnerships.
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Experience in policy development and implementation.

Responsibilities

• Create mechanisms and programs for faculty educational development with Rowan leaders.
• Coordinate faculty recommendations for hires, merit programs and recognition to ensure equity.
• Coordinate faculty leaves including parental leaves with department Chairs.
• work with other Deans and Directors to implement curriculum decisions.
• Lead Committee on Curriculum and Committee on Appointments and Promotions.
• Serve as contact for search committee policies and processes.
• Lead the administrative team on faculty-driven curricular decisions.
• Represent the Dean on academic matters as requested.
