Job summary

OCLC is seeking a data scientist to maintain our data platform, translate business problems into technical requirements, and build dashboards and KPI reports from internal data sources. You will write efficient code and contribute to data models, ensuring quality data across a high-scale environment.

You will work with Data Scientists to apply statistical methods and ML, perform exploratory analysis, and promote DataOps practices while communicating insights to cross-functional teams in various

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in a quantitative field plus 2+ years in a data science role or Master’s plus 1+ year in a data science role.
• Proficient in SQL for data warehouses.
• Intermediate Python (pandas/numpy, scikit-learn) with visualization (matplotlib/seaborn/plotly).
• Experience applying statistical and machine learning methods; solid grounding in probability and inference.
• Experience with hypothesis testing and experimentation design/analysis.
• Exposure to cloud environments and software engineering best practices (Git, code reviews, testing).
• Strong data storytelling and collaboration in agile, cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Maintain OCLC’s data platform with up-to-date, quality data.
• Translate business problems to technical requirements to design rapid prototypes of reports and dashboards.
• Build and maintain data models, reports, dashboards, and KPI/metrics from internal databases.
• Write performant code that meets internal standards for style and high-scale data environments.
• Perform exploratory data analysis for QA, reporting, and informing AI/ML model development.
• Implement the DataOps philosophy in everything you do.
• Create and maintain documentation for data science initiatives and data resources.
• Collaborate with Data Scientists to drive efficiencies for their work.
