Overview

As an Associate Coverage Attorney, you are an internal resource for the Claims Department in making coverage determinations for workers compensation and liability claims submitted under policies for which AmTrust North America is the claims administrator. The role entails providing guidance to claim adjusters, supervisors and managers concerning coverage for claims under policies as well as reviewing coverage position letters prior to issuance. Additionally, an Associate Coverage Attorney works with claims and outside coverage counsel to manage coverage litigation. The Associate Coverage Attorney position maintains a solid understanding of AmTrust's mission, vision, and values along with upholding the standards of the AmTrust organization.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:
1.Legal research and analysis, including providing conclusions and recommendations for the most complex/high exposure claims.
2.Developing and analyzing broad claims and litigation data with a focus on isolating areas of concern and improvement.
3.Maintaining a diary of pending lawsuits across various jurisdictions, with varying degrees of complexity, in a manner that reflects efficient organization and the ability to address multiple issues relative to multiple cases.
4.Developing talent within the Litigation Department including managing growth of colleagues and the department itself.
5.Succinct presentation of complex issues to colleagues in the Claim, Litigation and Underwriting Departments.
6.Keeps current with market trends and demands.
7.Performs other functionally related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Required:
*J.D. along with a certificate of good standing from at least one state bar
*4+ years experience combined at law firm or insurance-related organization (underwriter, broker, managing agent, third-party administrator) handling and/or defending U.S.-based property & casualty claims
*Strong Negotiation Skills
*Strong Communication Skills (written and oral
*Strong data analytics Skills as a tool for understanding correlation, causation of litigation dynamics and net results (MS Project, Excel, Powerpoint, legal research platforms experience)

Preferred:
*Complex claim, mass tort litigation experience
*Experience handling all business lines, including D&O, Professional Liability, Fortune 1000 CGL, Construction matters, Surety, Workers Compensation
*Licensed Claims Adjuster in at least one State
*Appellate and/or Trial Experience

JD - American Bar Association accredited law school

The salary range for this role is $140,000 - $155,000. Base pay offered may vary depending on, but not limited to education, experience, skills, geographic location, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics. This range may be modified in the future. Durning the interview process, yours skills, abilities and technical knowledge will be evaluated to determine the correct job level.
