Job summary

AMC Global Media seeks an Associate Counsel to join its Legal team in New York, NY. The role focuses on providing day-to-day counsel to multiple business units, reviewing content production, and helping manage litigation strategies.

The ideal candidate has a J.D., New York bar admission, and at least two years of litigation-focused experience, preferably in an in-house or media environment. The company offers a robust benefits package and some remote work flexibility.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials.
• Member of the New York Bar in good standing.
• Minimum of two years of legal experience, including experience at a law firm with an emphasis on litigation.
• Experience in an in-house legal or business affairs department at a studio, advertising agency, production company, or comparable media company is preferred.
• Knowledge of intellectual property, labor and employment, defamation, rights of publicity, or privacy law is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in providing day-to-day legal counsel and support to a broad array of business units, including Production, Creative, Finance, Insurance and Human Resources, as needed.
• Review and advise on legal matters arising during content production, including evaluating rights issues; reviewing content for copyright, trademark, and defamation risks; and advising on employment matters.
• Assist in managing AMC’s litigation docket, including helping to develop and implement litigation strategy.
• Analyze and interpret contracts and provide thoughtful legal advice on potential risks and issues in a wide range of legal areas.
• Work closely with members of the Studio business affairs team to draft and negotiate production-related agreements.
• Help develop and refine Studio and Corporate forms and policies.

We are currently seeking a Associate Counsel to join our Legal team in our New York, NY location.

Compensation and Benefits

• Base compensation: $120,000 - $130,000 commensurate with experience.
