We are currently seeking a **Associate Counsel** to join our **Legal team** in our **New York, NY location.** **JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:*** Assist in providing day-to-day legal counsel and support to a broad array of business units, including Production, Creative, Finance, Insurance and Human Resources, as needed.* Review and advise on legal matters arising during content production, including evaluating rights issues; reviewing content for copyright, trademark, and defamation risks; and advising on employment matters.* Assist in managing AMC’s litigation docket, including helping to develop and implement litigation strategy.* Analyze and interpret contracts and provide thoughtful legal advice on potential risks and issues in a wide range of legal areas.* Work closely with members of the Studio business affairs team to draft and negotiate production-related agreements.* Help develop and refine Studio and Corporate forms and policies. **QUALIFICATIONS (Required & Preferred)*** J.D. from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials.* Member of the New York Bar in good standing.* Minimum of two years of legal experience, including experience at a law firm with an emphasis on litigation. Experience in an in-house legal or business affairs department at a studio, advertising agency, production company, or comparable media company is preferred.* Knowledge of intellectual property, labor and employment, defamation, rights of publicity, or privacy law is preferred.* Familiarity with entertainment industry development, production, transactions, and standards is preferred.* Excellent communication, drafting, problem-solving, and analytical skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within the legal team and across business divisions.* Self-starter with strong attention to detail.* Excellent organizational and project-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple matters across disciplines, follow through, and meet deadlines.* Eagerness and ability to learn and retain new substantive matters quickly.* Sound judgment and the ability to remain effective in a fast-paced, demanding environment.* Demonstrated problem-solving skills and sound judgment, including in ambiguous situations.* Ability to identify and resolve legal issues efficiently and communicate effectively with all levels of leadership.The base compensation for this position is **$120,000 - $130,000** commensurate with experience.
