Join us and work alongside world-class engineers, geoscientists, operators, project builders, and business leaders working to make geothermal a cornerstone of a more reliable, affordable, and sustainable energy future.

Position Description

Fervo's Legal Rotational Development Program is a two-year development program for early-career attorneys looking to build a strong foundation as in-house counsel. Modeled after Fervo's successful Bedrock rotational program, participants complete two one-year rotations across different areas of the Legal team while working directly with experienced attorneys on substantive legal matters from day one.

Throughout the program, participants gain broad exposure to the legal issues that support a rapidly growing energy company, including commercial contracts, construction, finance, regulatory matters, land leasing and permitting, power markets, and compliance – based on Fervo’s staffing needs and the participants background and interests. Each rotation is designed to develop practical legal judgment, strengthen business acumen, and prepare participants for long-term success as in-house counsel.

Upon successful completion of the program, participants may transition into a permanent attorney role on Fervo's Legal team, with final placement determined by business needs, participant performance, and rotational experiences.

Two-year rotational program consisting of two one-year Legal rotations.

Full-time position based in Houston, Texas throughout both rotations (minimal travel to other offices).

Relocation assistance is available for candidates moving to the Houston area.

Hybrid work schedule with regular in-office collaboration.

Structured mentorship from both a rotation manager and a senior Legal leader.

Defined pathway into a permanent Legal position upon successful completion of the program.

Responsibilities

Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda, summaries, presentations, and other work product to support business decisions.

Assist with commercial transactions, strategic initiatives, and legal projects supporting Fervo's continued growth.

Participate in internal discussions regarding legal risk assessment and practical business solutions.

Cross-Functional Partnership

Partner closely with teams across Commercial Contracts, Construction, Corporate Governance & Securities, Finance, Land & Regulatory, Power Markets, Litigation & Compliance functions.

Provide practical, business-focused legal guidance while balancing commercial objectives and legal risk.

Attend cross-functional meetings and help identify legal considerations early in project planning.

Build strong relationships and subject-matter depth across the organization to better understand Fervo's business and operational priorities.

Professional Development

Receive ongoing mentorship from both a rotation manager and a senior Legal sponsor.

Participate in regular coaching, performance feedback, and career development discussions.
