Job summary

Mainspring Energy, Inc. is seeking a Controls Engineer to design and implement new automation and control algorithms for its Linear Generator.

You will work within the Electrical Systems Controls team to coordinate inverters, batteries, and generators on a common DC bus, analyzing system data and refining control strategies. You will collaborate with power electronics, mechanical, thermal, firmware, and test teams, building simulation tests and supporting hardware validation.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in electrical, mechanical, or software engineering with a specialization in control systems or power systems.
• 2–5 years of relevant work experience.
• Experience designing, implementing, and testing controls and automation algorithms in software.
• Strong communication skills and collaboration across hardware and software engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate to integrate inverters, batteries, brake resistors, and generators on a common DC bus.
• Design, implement, and tune control algorithms for DC bus coordination in simulation and hardware.
• Implement MIL, SIL, PIL tests using C++17.
• Develop automation, diagnostics, and fail-safes for the integrated platform.
• Analyze system data to refine control strategies.
• Collaborate with power electronics, mechanical, thermal, firmware, and test teams.
