Job summary

Colby Community College (CCC) invites applications for a full-time Associate coach - Track and Field to assist in coaching, administration, and promotion of the men's and women's track and field programs.

The position offers a $39,000 annual salary with eligibility for health, dental, and vision plans, and relocation assistance up to $2,000. Bachelor's degree required; experience in combined events and collegiate athlete background preferred.

Qualifications

  • Experience in combined events (heptathlon/decathlon) is highly preferred.
  • Student athlete experience at the collegiate level in track and field is preferred.
  • Specialist experience in throws, jumps, or sprints/hurdles is highly preferred.

  • Assist the Head Coach in planning and conducting practices, conditioning sessions, and meet preparation.
  • Provide individualized instruction and feedback to help student-athletes improve event-specific skills and overall performance.
  • Support athletes in sprints, throws, jumps, and relays according to program needs.
  • Promote teamwork, sportsmanship, and discipline in all training and competitive activities.
  • Ensure a safe and supportive training environment for all student-athletes.
  • Assist in identifying, evaluating, and recruiting academically and athletically qualified student-athletes.

Colby Community College (CCC) invites applications for a full-time Associate coach - Track and Field to assist in the coaching, administration, and promotion of the men's and women's track and field programs.

Salary Range

The compensation package for this full-time, exempt position will be $39,000 per year. The selected candidate will also be eligible to participate in the College's health, dental, and vision plan, as well as the State of Kansas KPERS retirement system. This position is also eligible for relocation/moving expenses up to $2,000.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree Required
  • Experience in combined events (heptathlon/decathlon), either as a coach or former athlete, is highly preferred.

Essential Duties

The below list of essential duties is a snapshot of what the position entails.

  • Assist the Head Coach in planning and conducting practices, conditioning sessions, and meet preparation.
  • Provide individualized instruction and feedback to help student-athletes improve event-specific skills and overall performance.
  • Support athletes in sprints, throws, jumps, and relays according to program needs.
  • Promote teamwork, sportsmanship, and discipline in all training and competitive activities.
  • Ensure a safe and supportive training environment for all student-athletes.
  • Assist in identifying, evaluating, and recruiting academically and athletically qualified student-athletes.
  • Support efforts to ensure all allotted Letters of Intent (LOIs) are filled with high-caliber recruits each season.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with high school, club, and regional coaches to expand recruiting networks.
  • Participate in communication, visits, and outreach to prospective student-athletes.
  • Help monitor student-athlete academic progress and eligibility, referring to appropriate support resources as needed.
  • Encourage and assist student-athletes in participating in community service and volunteer initiatives.
  • Represent the track and field program and Colby Community College at community events, youth camps, and athletic functions.
  • Help organize and support local clinics, fundraising events, and outreach programs to promote the sport.
  • Collaborate with the Assistant Athletic Director/SID to share program highlights, results, and service projects through College media.
  • Strengthen relationships between the athletic program, alumni, and community partners.
