Job Description

Adventist Health Sierra Vista has been providing care to our community since 1959. Our 162‑bed acute care facility includes a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and a county‑designated trauma center. Nestled on the Central California Coast, the facility is in San Luis Obispo, a lively community just fifteen minutes from Avila Beach and Pismo Beach. Job Summary

Assists end‑users at Adventist Health clinics, hospitals, and other care settings with successful adoption and use of electronic health record (EHR) and related technologies. Works closely with users during onboarding to ensure proficient EHR skills and subsequently fine‑tunes and improves those skills over time. Participates in training and competence‑building activities with other informaticists, driven by user data and clinical performance of the system overtime. Rounds with users regularly with one or many AH markets, manages intake of new requests and incidents related to EHRs, triages user requests through clinical best practices, policies, and procedures, and analyzes requests for clinical impacts.

Education and Work Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree: Required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN): Preferred

  • Clinical Informatics experience: Preferred
Licenses / Certifications
  • Healthcare related licensure (RN, PharmD, PT, RT, OT, ST, PA, NP, or LVN): Required
  • Nursing Informatics Board certification: Preferred
Essential Functions
  • Supports end users (clinical, ancillary, support staff) in clinics or hospitals through EHR training including onboarding, first 30‑days, and routine sessions during updates, collaborating with medical staff, clinic managers, nursing education, EHR education teams in IT, and vendors.
  • Works closely with EHR super users, clinic managers, nurse supervisors, and others in workforce management to identify re‑training and skills improvement opportunities and leverages data from EHR and input during routine in‑person or virtual rounding with users.
  • Participates in change management activities including submission of incidents and change requests and vetting and validation of user requests, reviewing with AH IT and Informatics teams, researching potential solutions, and communicating with users and stakeholders.
  • Learns and masters clinical workflows and market operations (clinical and financial), hardware and application support fundamentals, and participates in market activities during regulatory surveys, operational projects, and downtimes to ensure care continuity and improvements.
  • Participates in projects at market or system level for new service lines, new care locations, performance improvement programs, or clinically driven initiatives by connecting with end‑users through all stages of the project to ensure their active engagement, training, and pre‑ and post‑support.
  • Performs other job‑related duties as assigned.
