Job summary

Health System Health System is seeking a Clinical Informatics Specialist III to coordinate and analyze clinical processes across the health system using clinical information technology and evidence to improve patient care and quality.

You will lead the design and implementation of technology to improve care experiences and develop informatics programs across the health system, engaging with national standards and vendor forums.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree required; licensure as appropriate to clinical background and state requirements.
  • Board certification in Clinical Informatics preferred; Masters in public health, business, or equivalent experience encouraged.

Responsibilities

  • Leads development and promotion of informatics initiatives; promotes EMR adoption and clinical practice standards.
  • Directs clinical and operational teams to develop workflows, designs, and requirements.
  • Translates designs into IT specifications and secures governance approvals.
  • Oversees system-wide projects ensuring effective IT implementation and redesign.
  • Ensures IT systems meet clinical goals for reliability and seamless patient/provider experience.
  • Contributes to safety initiatives and risk mitigation; ensures regulatory compliance.
  • Acts as liaison to information systems; aligns priorities for service lines and physician concerns.
  • Mentors junior informatics staff and supports knowledge development across teams.
  • Develops and maintains knowledge base articles and technical documentation.

Job description

The Clinical Informatics Specialist III will coordinate, integrate, and analyze clinical processes across Health System Health System using clinical information technology, process design, and evidence to improve patient care, quality, and financial goals. They will work collaboratively on the design and implementation of technology to improve care and experiences of Health System's patients, providers, team members. This role develops the informatics program, people, and methodologies across Health System Health and is engaged with the national standards, professional disciplines, and vendor forums.

HYBRID - on site one to two times a month.

Essential Job Function
  • Leads the activities related to the development, organization, direction, and promotion of informatics initiatives Facilitates adoption of EMRs and builds relationships with internal and external clinicians to promote technology adoption and clinical practice standards.
  • Directs clinical and operational improvement teams in developing and refining clinical designs, requirements, and workflows.
  • May lead clinical and operational improvement teams, directing documentation of designs, requirements, and workflows and translating these requirements into specifications for the IT team.
  • Facilitates stakeholder and governance approval of these designs.
  • Manages and Oversees system-wide projects and initiatives to ensure that implementation and redesign of IT systems are maximally effective.
  • Ensures IT systems are designed to meet the clinical goals of high reliability care and a seamless experience for patients and providers.
  • Actively participates in safety initiatives and implements risk-mitigating measures as appropriate, ensuring compliance with all position-related requirements.
  • Serves as a key liaison to information systems, communicating to establish priorities and devise targeted approaches for service lines and specific physician concerns.
  • Works collaboratively across the organization to ensure quality, facilitate and implement change, and mentor and support informatics capabilities development.
  • Contributes to the creation and maintenance of knowledge base articles and/or technical and procedural documentation as needed.
  • May coordinate the development and delivery of educational content and training for internal and external physicians, support staff, and IHS team members in partnership with IHS training team, super users, and other clinical support leaders.
  • Mentors lower-level Clinical Informatics Specialists, training and developing their skills and knowledge of best practices.
  • May perform additional duties as assigned.
Education
  • Required: * A minimum of a Bachelor degree Clinical training and licensure as appropriate to clinical background and state requirements including but not limited to nurse, therapist, health administration, public health, social services.* Clinical training and licensure as appropriate to clinical background and state requirementsPreferred:* Board certification or degree in Clinical Informatics * Master's in public health, master's in business, or substantial experience commensurate with such degrees.
Experience
  • Required:* Five years in clinical informatics and Epic Clinical Applications * Five years of experience in a complex healthcare setting * Proficient knowledge and demonstrated experience of relevant regulatory requirements, such as HITECH, HIPAA Privacy & Security and other CMS regulations and guidelines. * In-depth knowledge of clinical practice, health care administration; patient safety; information and data management systems and associated software applications and configurations * Mastery of skills required to support the build and management of data systems and the ability to analyze complex data sets to address clinical, operational, and personnel management issues * Change management, project management skills, including financial and budget management, scheduling and resource management. * Proficient in Quality improvement and IT methodologies. Agile, LEAN, product, Agil, ITIL
Licensure/Certification/Listing
  • Required: Licensure in the state if required by the state board. Quality, safety or process improvement certification (examples: Agile, LEAN) or similar comparable experience. Preferred:Board certification or degree in Clinical Informatics. If a physician, a board certification from a specialty board recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties or the American Osteopathic Association. Epic certificationsClinical Advanced Certification (RN, PharmD, etc.)
