The County of Riverside's Department of Waste Resources has an opportunity for multiple Associate Civil Engineers to join their team in Beaumont and Moreno Valley.
The Associate Civil Engineer (ACE) will handle responsibilities such as assigning work, providing instructions, and resolving complex engineering and administrative problems related to the day-to-day operations of active landfills, including safety, traffic, surveying, and operational efficiency. Additionally, the incumbent will oversee office engineering personnel in analyzing field data, preparing plans, profiles, maps, and related construction drawings. The ACE will also be involved in regulatory permitting, compliance, long-range planning, design, large-scale Public Works Construction projects, staff training, and development.
Other duties include performing complex engineering assessments and analyses to enhance departmental efficiency, and providing technical information to officials of other governmental jurisdictions, engineers, and the public.
The ideal candidates will have experience in applying civil engineering fundamentals, especially in surveying, hydrology, hydraulics, geotechnical, and environmental controls within a landfill setting. Experience in supervising field staff, including equipment operators and lead personnel, is highly desirable. Familiarity with programs such as Microstation, InRoads, Access, PowerPoint, MS Projects, AutoCAD, Civil3D, SureTrak, and Arcview GIS, as well as survey equipment like GPS and Sokkia TotalStation, is encouraged.
Under general supervision, performs professional civil engineering work related to surveying, design, construction, and maintenance of public works projects, along with other related duties as required.
