The County of Riverside's Department of Waste Resources has opportunities for multiple Associate Civil Engineers to join their team in Beaumont and Moreno Valley.
The Associate Civil Engineer (ACE) will handle responsibilities including assigning work, providing instructions, and resolving complex engineering and administrative problems related to the day-to-day operations of active landfills, such as safety, traffic, surveying, and operational efficiency. The incumbent will also direct office engineering personnel in analyzing field data, preparing plans, profiles, maps, and drawings necessary for construction. Additional duties include regulatory permitting and compliance, long-range planning and design, overseeing large-scale Public Works Construction projects, staff training, and development.
Other responsibilities include performing complex engineering assessments and analyses to enhance Department operations' efficiency, and providing technical information to government officials, engineers, and the public.
Candidates should have experience applying civil engineering fundamentals, especially in surveying, hydrology, hydraulics, geotechnical, and environmental control in a landfill setting. Supervisory experience of field staff, including equipment operators and lead staff, is also desirable. Familiarity with programs like Microstation, InRoads, Access, PowerPoint, MS Projects, AutoCAD, Civil3D, SureTrak, and Arcview GIS, as well as survey equipment such as GPS, Sokkia TotalStation, and mapping software like Prolink, is highly encouraged.
Under general supervision, performs professional civil engineering work related to surveying, design, construction, and maintenance of public works projects, along with other related duties as required.
Advancement to the Senior Civil Engineer level is through competitive selection via an open recruitment process.
