Job summary

WTW is seeking a Marine Cargo Broker Trainee to join our team as an Associate Broker. You will support senior brokers with daily operations, client communication, and market submissions, while building a book of smaller accounts to place with carriers.

You will develop expertise in ECLIPSE and RADAR, maintain client records in CRM, and work toward obtaining a broker license within the first 3 months. A hybrid work style is available in select locations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; college degree preferred.
• 1–2 years broking experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Obtain broker’s license within first 3 months if not held.

Responsibilities

• Assist senior brokers with day-to-day servicing of large, complex accounts and broking on smaller accounts.
• Prepare submissions for insurance carriers and quote comparisons.
• Issue policies and endorsements; handle compliance documentation and invoicing help.
• Maintain updated client and prospect lists in CRM; support RFP responses and meetings.

It also requires that the chose candidate maintain a book of smaller accounts that they will directly broke with the insurance markets.

The Role

Performance Objectives

• Assists the team to provide day-to-day servicing of larger, complex accounts and direct broking/placement service on smaller accounts, duties include but are not limited to:
• Issuance of policies and endorsements
• Assist in formulating submissions for insurance carriers
• Assist with quote comparative spreadsheets
• Issuance of compliance documentation
• Assist and coordinate responses to RFP's
• Organize internal, prospect and client meetings
• Support invoicing of Cargo accounts
• Follow up on invoicing and accounting inquiries
• Maintain updated account list
• Review and manage policy expiration list.
• Learn and utilize WTW software and systems – ECLIPSE, RADAR
• Add/renew policy record in ECLIPSE; upload required documentation throughout placement
• Maintain client and prospect lists within CRM in large market, middle market and industry focus areas

Qualifications

The Requirements

• High school diploma required. College degree preferred
• 1-2 years broking experience
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Outlook
• Obtain a broker’s license in the first 3 months of employment, if a broker’s license is not currently held.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
• Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
• Exceptional time management and organizational skills, with a proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment

• Understanding of placement processes and workflows

• Demonstrated proficiency in leveraging approved AI-enabled and digital tools to improve productivity, workflow efficiency, knowledge sharing, and client outcomes.
• Sound judgment in evaluating AI-generated outputs for accuracy, relevance, compliance, and business impact.
• Understanding of Responsible AI principles, including data privacy, information security, transparency, risk management, and ethical AI use.
• Commitment to continuous learning, emerging technologies, and AI adoption initiatives.

Compensation And Benefits

Base salary range and benefits information for this position are being included in accordance with requirements of various state/local pay transparency legislation. Please note that base salaries may vary for different individuals in the same role based on several factors, including but not limited to location of the role, individual competencies, education/professional certifications, qualifications/experience, performance in the role and potential for revenue generation.

Compensation

The base salary compensation range being offered for this role is $80,000 - $100,000 USD per year.

This role is also eligible for an annual short-term incentive bonus.
