Job summary

Willis Towers Watson seeks an Associate Broker (Marine Cargo Broker Trainee) to assist senior brokers in client servicing, documentation, and market communications. The role includes handling smaller accounts, learning ECLIPSE/RADAR, and building CRM lists to support placement workflows.

Responsibilities encompass policy issuance, carrier submissions, RFP responses, and invoicing support. A broker license within 3 months is encouraged if not already held; hybrid work is typical.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; college degree preferred.
  • 1-2 years broking experience.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Aim to obtain broker license within 3 months if not held.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication.
  • Strong problem solving, analytical and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines.
  • Proven customer service orientation and collaboration.
  • Familiarity with AI-enabled tools and responsible AI practices.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare carrier submissions and quote comparison spreadsheets.
  • Coordinate responses to RFPs and organize meetings.
  • Assist invoicing and monitor accounting inquiries.
  • Maintain updated client/prospect lists in CRM and ensure data accuracy.
  • Learn and use WTW software (ECLIPSE, RADAR) and upload documentation.
  • Manage policy records and expiration lists for placement workflows.

Description

The Associate Broker (Marine Cargo Broker Trainee)supports a team of senior brokers by assisting with organization, daily operations, communication with clients and insurance markets, document creation for use with clients and insurance markets, assistance with compliance, systems data entry, data analysis and other support tasks as required. It also requires that the chose candidate maintain a book of smaller accounts that they will directly broke with the insurance markets.

The Role

Performance Objectives:

  • Assists the team to provide day-to-day servicing of larger, complex accounts and direct broking/placement service on smaller accounts, duties include but are not limited to:

    • Issuance of policies and endorsements

    • Assist in formulating submissions for insurance carriers

    • Assist with quote comparative spreadsheets

    • Issuance of compliance documentation

    • Assist and coordinate responses to RFP’s

    • Organize internal, prospect and client meetings

    • Support invoicing of Cargo accounts

    • Follow up on invoicing and accounting inquiries

    • Maintain updated account list

    • Review and manage policy expiration list.

  • Learn and utilize WTW software and systems – ECLIPSE, RADAR

  • Add/renew policy record in ECLIPSE; upload required documentation throughout placement

  • Maintain client and prospect lists within CRM in large market, middle market and industry focus areas

Qualifications

The Requirements

  • High school diploma required. College degree preferred

  • 1-2 years broking experience

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Outlook

  • Obtain a broker’s license in the first 3 months of employment, if a broker’s license is not currently held.

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills, with a proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work

  • Understanding of placement processes and workflows
  • Demonstrated customer service orientation, sound prioritization skills, and a commitment to continuous learning and professional development
  • Demonstrated proficiency in leveraging approved AI-enabled and digital tools to improve productivity, workflow efficiency, knowledge sharing, and client outcomes.

  • Sound judgment in evaluating AI-generated outputs for accuracy, relevance, compliance, and business impact.

  • Understanding of Responsible AI principles, including data privacy, information security, transparency, risk management, and ethical AI use.

  • Commitment to continuous learning, emerging technologies, and AI adoption initiatives.

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary range and benefits information for this position are being included in accordance with requirements of various state/local pay transparency legislation. Please note that base salaries may vary for different individuals in the same role based on several factors, including but not limited to location of the role, individual competencies, education/professional certifications, qualifications/experience, performance in the role and potential for revenue generation.

Compensation

The base salary compensation range being offered for this role is $80,000 - $100,000 USD per year.

This role is also eligible for an annual short-term incentive bonus.
