Job Title: Associate Behavioral Health Technician (BHT)


Department: Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU/CCSU) - Adult & Child Units

Reports To: BHT Supervisor

Location: Naples, Florida

Position Summary:

The Associate Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) plays a vital leadership role in maintaining a safe, therapeutic, and supportive environment for both adult and child clients in the Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU). This position provides daily oversight of the BHT team, particularly during evening and overnight shifts, and ensures adherence to organizational protocols, safety practices, and therapeutic programming. The Associate BHT supports administrative functions, training, and staff management to promote the highest standards of client care and team performance.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Supervision:

  • Provide leadership and daily oversight to Behavioral Health Technicians (BHTs) to ensure a safe and therapeutic milieu for all clients.
  • Oversee BHT performance, particularly on evening and overnight shifts, ensuring duties such as 15-minute checks, safety rounds, scheduled unit activities, search and seizure procedures, and personal safety plans are completed appropriately.
  • Respond to "Dr. Gray" backup calls and assist in non-emergency behavioral interventions.
  • Provide administrative supervision and mentorship to PRN BHT staff.
  • Assist the BHT Supervisor in ensuring appropriate and timely staffing coverage, including arranging transportation as needed.
  • Manage employee changes in DATIS for PRN BHT staff.

Operations & Safety:

  • Assist in maintaining adequate stock and inventory of operational and unit supplies.
  • Ensure all visitors are wanded appropriately during visitation hours for the safety of clients and staff.
  • Support enforcement of safety policies, including the use of appropriate therapeutic de-escalation techniques.

Training & Communication:

  • Assist and support the BHT Supervisor with training, and ongoing development of staff.
  • Track, maintain, and report training compliance for all PRN-BHT staff on CSU/CCSU.
  • Provide effective written and verbal communication within the team and with other departments.
  • Recruit, train, and orient PRN BHT staff in collaboration with the training and HR teams.

Administrative Duties:

  • Review and approve timesheets for PRN BHT staff.
  • Complete performance evaluations, including 3-month progress reports, 6-month evaluations, and annual reviews for all PRN BHT personnel.
  • Assist in the review and response to program grievances and RL6 incident reports in accordance with policy and regulatory standards.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in psychology, behavioral health, or related field=Preferred .
  • Minimum 2 years experience in a behavioral health or crisis stabilization setting, with demonstrated leadership experience.
  • Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques and behavioral health best practices.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, overnights, and weekends as needed.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic health record (EHR) systems; familiarity with DATIS preferred.
  • Fast-paced behavioral health setting involving potential exposure to high-stress situations and behavioral crises.
  • Requires physical stamina including the ability to stand, walk, and participate in therapeutic activities or emergency interventions as needed.

Physical Requirements:

This position requires a mix of physical activities throughout the workday. Duties involve periods of standing, sitting, and walking, often across various areas of the site. The role also includes tasks that may require bending, reaching, and other physical movements. Candidates must be able to occasionally lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. A reasonable level of physical stamina and mobility is necessary to successfully perform the essential functions of this role.
