Job summary

Nintendo of America in Redmond, WA seeks a junior backend developer to help build and support backend services for Nintendo.com. You will contribute to GraphQL and Node.js workloads under guidance from senior engineers.

This is a 7-month contract with a hybrid work arrangement in Redmond. The role emphasizes writing secure, testable server-side code, collaborating across teams, and expanding data services.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of software/backend development experience.
• Foundational proficiency in JavaScript and GraphQL; write testable code.
• Familiarity with Git and collaborative workflows.
• Basic MySQL relational database knowledge.
• Experience building or consuming REST/GraphQL APIs.
• Awareness of data structures, algorithms, and SDLC.
• AWS exposure is a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Write server-side code for features per standards.
• Participate in SDLC phases: planning, coding, testing, launching.
• Build and consume GraphQL APIs; maintain data structures.
• Write unit/integration tests and troubleshoot defects.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and review code.
• Document changes and provide technical notes.
