Job Description

Location: Remote – Candidates must reside near Roanoke, VA and be able to attend in person for court proceedings. The primary residence must be in Virginia.

We are seeking a full-time Associate Attorney to join our Virginia practice. This role involves handling a broad range of legal issues related to consumer protection, including transactional and civil litigation. As our firm’s headquarters are in New York, communication will be primarily via telephone and electronic means (email, Microsoft Teams, etc.).

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

• Managing a heavy and diverse caseload of clients in Virginia.
• Communicating with clients regarding their cases.
• Drafting pleadings, motions, legal memoranda, reviewing and drafting agreements.
• Negotiating with opposing parties to resolve or settle claims.
• Conducting legal research on issues in contract law and consumer law.

Qualifications

• Experience in drafting legal documents such as pleadings and memoranda, strong organizational skills, and willingness to handle a heavy workload.
• Must be admitted to practice law in Virginia (multiple-state admission is a plus).
• At least 1 year of relevant experience at a law firm.
• Strong legal research skills; proficiency in LexisNexis is a plus.
