Job summary

Goodman Acker is seeking an Associate Attorney in personal injury litigation to join our collaborative team in Southfield, Michigan. You’ll take ownership of cases, work with clients, negotiate with carriers and opposing counsel, and advance your litigation skills through mediation, arbitration and trial.

We look for a J.D. from an accredited law school, an active Michigan license, and at least 2 years of personal injury experience.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Active Michigan law license in good standing.
• 2+ years of personal injury experience preferred.
• Personal injury law firm or related litigation experience strongly preferred.
• Strong writing, negotiation and advocacy skills.
• Ability to manage cases and competing deadlines effectively.
• A collaborative approach and genuine commitment to client service.
• Someone who wants to continue developing as a litigator and grow with the firm.

Responsibilities

• Manage personal injury matters from intake through resolution
• Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions and other legal documents
• Negotiate settlements with insurance companies and opposing counsel
• Prepare cases for mediation, arbitration and trial
• Work closely with attorneys, paralegals and support staff to move cases effectively
• Maintain strong, responsive communication with clients throughout the life of their case
• Manage deadlines and caseload while maintaining a high standard of legal representation
