Mayer LLP in Albuquerque, NM seeks an experienced attorney to join our medical malpractice and complex litigation practice. The role requires a Juris Doctor and active NM Bar admission, with a minimum of three years’ experience handling high-exposure cases.

We offer a hybrid schedule (3 days in office, 2 days remote), a competitive bonus program, and a full benefits package. Candidates must be capable of independent work and strong collaboration within a team.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the State Bar of New Mexico.
• The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of experience in medical malpractice, complex litigation, wrongful death, or similar.

Responsabilités

• Conduct legal research and provide legal analysis on Medical Malpractice issues.
• Develop case strategies, evaluate settlement value, and provide legal counsel to clients on their rights and legal options.
• Take lead on cases from beginning to end; draft pleadings, motions, and discovery requests.
• Prepare for and attend depositions, hearings, and trials.
• Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel.
• Participate in case strategy discussions and negotiations.
• Manage case files and maintain accurate and organized records.
• Attend continuing legal education courses to stay current on legal developments in Medical Malpractice.

Experience

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school
• Admission to the State Bar of New Mexico
• The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of experience in medical malpractice, complex litigation, wrongful death, or similar
• Previous experience working on cases with high exposure ($10M+)
• Strong research and writing skills
• Excellent oral communication and negotiation skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Willingness to travel when necessary
