Kimball Tirey & St. John LLP in Los Angeles seeks an Associate Attorney to join our Discovery team. You will manage the discovery phase of civil matters for major property owners and management companies in California, drafting and responding to discovery, conducting privilege analyses, and tracking deadlines.

The ideal candidate has a J.D. with active California Bar admission, strong writing and oral advocacy skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• J.D. degree and active California Bar license required.
• Discovery experience preferred.
• Strong oral advocacy and legal writing skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment with minimal oversight.

Responsibilities

• Manage discovery phase for civil matters, propounding and responding to discovery.
• Draft and respond to meet and confer letters regarding discovery responses.
• Track status of discovery documents and meet deadlines.
• Communicate defects to clients and gather necessary documentation.
• Leverage eDiscovery tools to process large volumes of electronically stored information.
• Provide legal advice through phone consultations and client communications.
• Draft legal correspondence and memos; conduct independent legal research.

We are an established real estate law firm with offices across California. Our Los Angeles office is looking for an Associate Attorney to join our Discovery team. It is our mission to provide the highest quality, cost-effective legal services to our clients.Compensation:$110,000-$135,000 Annually (DOE) + BenefitsResponsibilities:Manage the discovery phase for new cases by propounding and responding to discovery, drafting and responding to meet and confer letters regarding discovery responses, and tracking the status of discovery documentsManage and meet all discovery related deadlinesConducts complex, nuanced privilege analysis and applies redactionsReview and analyze documents received during Discovery for any potential issuesCommunicate and inform client of any defects in the case and gather necessary documentationLeverage advanced eDiscovery tools to efficiently process, analyze, and cull large volumes of electronically stored informationProvide legal advice through phone consultations, assessing the facts and issues of each scenario and counseling clients accordinglyDraft legal correspondence, including letters, notices and memosConduct legal research on an independent basisRespond to client questions and concerns in order to increase and retain businessQualifications:We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications:J.D. and active California Bar licenseDiscovery experience a plusAbility to succeed in a fast-paced, high-volume environment with minimal oversightStrong oral advocacy and legal writing skillsAbility to work with people of all educational, socioeconomic, and cultural backgrounds who may have differing communication abilitiesThe following qualifications are preferred:Knowledge of landlord/tenant law and rules of civil procedureSchedule:Position is full-time, exempt. Our business hours are 8:30am-5:30pm Monday-Thursday, 8:30am-5:00pm Friday.We currently offer a hybrid in-office remote work model for select positions within the Firm.
