Scarinci Hollenbeck, LLC seeks a bright associate to join our public and education teams, serving municipal entities and boards of education across New Jersey. The role requires NJ bar admission and up to 3 years of legal experience, with emphasis on research, writing, and efficient workflow.

The candidate will provide legal services to district administrators and counsel, draft memoranda, pleadings, and resolutions, and may attend hearings or board meetings as needed in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Must be admitted to the New Jersey bar.
• 0-3 years’ legal experience as an attorney (NJ admission required).
• Ability to multitask and prioritize, and prepare documents as requested.
• Attention to detail and strong proofreading skills.
• Proficiency in Lexis, Westlaw, and Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Arbitrate labor disputes and defend civil suits.
• Advise and counsel school district administrators as experience allows.
• Research and prepare memoranda on education and municipal issues, pleadings, briefs, and resolutions.
• Render day-to-day legal advice to District administrators and board members.
• Assist attorneys in hearings, witness prep, and document reviews; may attend board meetings.

Job Summary:

The firm is looking for a bright, hard-working, and high-energy associate to join our public and education teams who would be interested in providing services to municipal, boards of education, and other governmental entities throughout the state of New Jersey.

• Admitted to practice law in the state of New Jersey
• Admitted to practice Law in the State of New York a Plus
• 0-3 years’ legal experience as an attorney (MUST HAVE NJ BAR ADMISSIONS)
• Ability to multitask and prioritize, and prepare documents as requested
• Ability to organize workflow and use time efficiently
• Ability to perform at high levels in a fast-paced, ever-changing work environment and successfully adapt to changing priorities and work demands
• Ability to show strong attention to detail, as well as strength in proofreading
• Demonstrate proficiency in applicable computer programs (Lexis, Westlaw, Microsoft Office Suite)
• Excellent legal research, writing, and presentation skills and high professional standards
• Uses the utmost discretion regarding sensitive company and confidential client information

Public and Education support:

• Arbitrate labor disputes and defend civil suits
• Depending on experience, participate in advising and counseling school district administrators
• Research and prepare formal and informal memoranda on education and municipal issues, pleadings, trial and appellate briefs, resolutions, legal and general correspondence for the signature of the Superintendent, or other administrators in the District
• Render appropriate day-to-day oral and written legal advice to District administrators and board members
• Support attorneys in preparing for hearings, including witness preparation, preparing student records requests, review documents, and preparing settlement agreements
• May be required to attend board/counsel meetings during daytime or evening hours

Work Hours:

• Office location in Little Falls, NJ.
• Full-time, exempt
• Lockstep salary based on admission dates
