Role Description

The Associate Attorney will handle a caseload of civil defense and personal injury matters, including case evaluation, legal research, drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery responses, and preparing correspondence to clients and opposing counsel. Responsibilities include participating in depositions, mediations, court hearings, and trial preparation, as well as assisting with strategy development and risk assessment for insurers and corporate clients. The role involves close collaboration with partners, paralegals, and support staff to move cases efficiently through all phases of litigation. This is a full-time, on-site position based in West Linn, OR, requiring regular in-office presence and occasional travel to courts and client locations.

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in Law, with experience or coursework in civil litigation and personal injury defense.
• Ability to provide clear, practical Legal Advice to clients, including insurers and corporate entities.
• Proficiency in legal Research, including case law, statutes, regulations, and discovery-related investigations.
• Effective Negotiation skills for settlement discussions, mediations, and managing disputes with opposing counsel.
• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and active membership in the Oregon State Bar (Washington admission is a plus).
• Prior experience in insurance defense, personal injury, or civil litigation strongly preferred.
• Excellent written and oral advocacy skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
• Commitment to professional ethics, client service, and collaborative work in a small firm environment.
