Schouest, Bamdas, Soshea, BenMaier and Eastham is a rapidly growing defense law firm with offices in Houston, TX, New Orleans, LA, Chicago, IL, and Boca Raton, FL.

Responsibilities:

1. Assist with docket involving Defense Base Act claims by providing sound legal analysis, drafting petitions, and communicating with clients, the Department of Labor, and opposing counsel.
2. Review, analyze, and summarize claims documents including medical records, incident reports, and employment files.
3. Conduct legal analysis to determine likelihood of recovery, recoverable amounts, and identify additional documentation needed.
4. Participate in conferences with the Department of Labor to address issues related to file resolution.
5. Communicate clearly and concisely with clients on Defense Base Act and War Hazards Compensation Act issues.
6. Make court appearances as necessary.
7. Conduct consultations with potential clients.
8. Assist with drafting legal documents.

Qualifications:

• Licensed to practice law in Illinois (IL).
• Ability to perform under stress.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
