Role Description

The Associate Attorney will handle family law matters from intake through resolution, including client counseling, case strategy, and advocacy. Day-to-day responsibilities include drafting pleadings, motions, declarations, discovery, and settlement agreements; conducting legal research; and preparing cases for hearings and trials. The role involves regular court appearances in Mendocino County, negotiation with opposing counsel and parties, and collaboration with the firm’s team to advance client interests. The attorney will maintain organized case files, manage deadlines, and communicate clearly and professionally with clients, courts, and other stakeholders. This is a full-time, on-site role located in Ukiah, CA.

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in Law and demonstrated experience or interest in Family Law practice
• Ability to provide clear, practical Legal Advice and guidance to clients in emotionally sensitive matters
• Proficiency in legal Research, including case law, statutes, and court rules relevant to family law
• Effective Negotiation skills for settlement discussions, mediation, and collaborative law settings
• Active California Bar license in good standing
• Excellent written advocacy and drafting skills for pleadings, motions, and correspondence
• Confident oral advocacy skills and comfort with regular court appearances
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines
• Professional, respectful communication style and ability to work with clients from diverse backgrounds
• Prior family law experience, internships, or clerkships are preferred but not required
