W3Global is partnering with an established East Texas family law firm to hire an Associate Attorney for its Tyler office. The role offers meaningful courtroom exposure, direct client responsibility, and a path to a long-term family law practice alongside experienced attorneys.

You will manage caseloads from consultation through trial, draft pleadings, conduct legal research, and appear in court while advising clients through sensitive matters. On-site in Tyler, TX.

Responsibilities

Job description

We have partnered with an established and growing East Texas family law firm that is actively hiring an Associate Attorney to join its Tyler office. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney who wants meaningful courtroom exposure, direct client responsibility, and the opportunity to build a long-term practice in family law alongside experienced attorneys. The firm handles a broad range of family law matters, including divorce, child custody, adoption, CPS investigations, child support enforcement, and related disputes. The successful attorney will take an active role in managing matters from initial client consultation through negotiation, mediation, hearings and trial.

The Opportunity
Responsibilities

As an Associate Attorney, you will manage a caseload of family law matters while working closely with senior attorneys and the broader legal team. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Meeting directly with clients and assessing their legal needs.
  • Managing a caseload of family law matters from inception through resolution.
  • Drafting pleadings, motions, discovery, correspondence and other legal documents.
  • Conducting legal research and analysing statutes, regulations and case law.
  • Preparing case strategies and developing litigation plans.
  • Appearing in court for hearings, conferences and trials.
  • Participating in mediations and negotiating settlements where appropriate.
  • Advising and counselling clients through sensitive and often emotionally challenging situations.
  • Communicating effectively with clients, opposing counsel, courts and other relevant parties.
  • Maintaining accurate case files and ensuring all court and case deadlines are met.
  • Working collaboratively with senior attorneys and contributing to improvements in firm processes and client service.
What The Firm Is Looking For
  • A Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • An active Texas law license and ability to practise law in Texas.
  • A strong interest in developing a career in family law.
  • Strong legal research, writing and analytical skills.
  • The ability to draft persuasive pleadings, motions and correspondence.
  • Strong negotiation, advocacy and courtroom communication skills.
  • The ability to communicate clearly and professionally with clients, particularly in emotionally sensitive matters.
  • Strong organisation and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines.
  • A practical, solutions-oriented approach to legal issues.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative legal team.
  • A willingness to work on-site in Tyler, Texas.
Early-Career Attorneys Are Encouraged to Apply
  • The firm is open to considering recently licensed attorneys who demonstrate a genuine interest in family law. Candidates with relevant family law clerkships, internships, law-school clinic experience or broader litigation experience will be considered, even if they have not yet built a substantial family-law caseload. Prior family law experience is preferred, but the firm is willing to consider the right early-career attorney with the appropriate foundation, motivation and interest in developing within the practice.

Workload & Expectations

The position carries a 100-hour monthly billable-hour expectation, equivalent to approximately 1,200 billable hours annually.
