Role Description:

The Associate Attorney position is full-time and on-site in Simi Valley, CA. This role involves managing a caseload, including legal research, drafting pleadings, motions, contracts, and correspondence, and preparing discovery requests and responses. The Associate Attorney will appear in court, attend hearings and depositions, and participate in negotiations and client meetings. Day-to-day responsibilities include analyzing case facts and applicable law, developing case strategies, communicating regularly with clients, and coordinating with support staff to ensure timely and accurate case management. The role also includes maintaining detailed records, updating clients on case progress, and contributing to firm-wide initiatives to improve efficiency and client service.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and active membership in the California State Bar (or eligibility for admission).
• Experience in civil litigation, transactional work, or relevant practice areas; prior law firm experience is preferred. Experience with California construction and/or engineering law preferred.
• Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills, including proficiency with legal research tools (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis).
• Demonstrated ability to draft clear, well-structured pleadings, motions, contracts, and client correspondence.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills for working with clients, colleagues, opposing counsel, and the court.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple matters and deadlines.
• Professional judgment, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving and case strategy.
• Comfort with technology and case management software; ability to maintain accurate electronic files and records.
