Job summary

Thompson, Coe, Cousins & Irons, LLP seeks an associate with 3+ years of civil litigation experience to join its growing St. Paul, Minnesota office. A working knowledge of state and federal civil procedure, and excellent writing and communication skills are required.

Previous civil litigation exposure, with preference for labor and employment, coverage, or professional liability work, is valued. Minnesota BAR license is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with day-to-day civil litigation matters in the St. Paul, MN office.

• Defend and advise employers in labor and employment matters.
• Attend client meetings, reporting, investigations, depositions, hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and/or trials.

Job description

Thompson, Coe, Cousins & Irons, LLP is looking for an associate with 3+ years' experience in civil litigation to join its growing St. Paul, Minnesota office. Candidates should have a working knowledge of state and federal civil procedure, and excellent writing and communication skills. Previous civil litigation experience is preferred and experience in labor and employment, coverage, or professional liability litigation is strongly preferred. Valid Minnesota BAR license required.

The attorney in this role will assist with the day-to-day aspects of the firm's civil litigation cases, which will include defending design, real estate and insurance professionals in business tort matters, defending lawyers in legal malpractice matters, and defending insurance carriers in coverage mattes. There will also be the opportunity to defend and advise employers in labor and employment matters. The day-to-day work will include client meetings, reporting and investigation, taking and attending depositions, hearings, mediations, arbitrations and/or trial. Depending on the size and exposure of the case the attorney will work independently or with partner oversight.
