Position Title: Associate Attorney (Multiple Openings: 1-2 Years & 4+ Years Experience)
Location: Onsite / Hybrid, Sacramento, CA and Roseville, CA
Start Date: Flexible, depending on candidate's availability

The teams are expanding, and we are seeking three Associate Attorneys: one with 1-2 years of experience and two with 4+ years of experience. As growing firms, they work with a variety of national and international clients, providing a diverse and intellectually stimulating range of legal challenges.

Position Overview:
The firms are seeking associates in two distinct levels:
Junior Associate (1-2 Years Experience):
Focus on regulatory and transactional work related to natural resources, land use, and environmental law, with training provided in specialized areas. Ideal for someone eager to learn and grow with a supportive team.
Mid-Level Associate x 2 (4+ Years Experience):
Focus on complex regulatory and transactional matters, including mining, land use, CEQA, NEPA, and environmental compliance. Previous experience in these or related areas is preferred. One of the openings requires land use and environmental experience, and can even be a 5+ year Attorney role, rather than an Associate.
Job Responsibilities:
Conduct legal research and drafting, with a focus on environmental regulations, land use permitting, and natural resource development.
Provide counsel on transactional matters, including regulatory compliance and due diligence.
Support litigation and appellate matters, particularly in regulatory and environmental law, involving bench trials without juries.
Collaborate with senior partners and team members to develop strategies and ensure seamless client service.
Must-Have Skills:
For Junior Associate:
Some experience in regulatory law is required.
Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
Desire to learn and grow in environmental law and land use.
For Mid-Level Associate:
4-6 years of relevant experience in environmental law, land use, or regulatory matters.
Solid experience with CEQA, NEPA, or similar environmental regulations is a plus.
Experience in transactional work and regulatory compliance required.
Familiarity with litigation, particularly appellate work, is beneficial but not required.
For a 5+ year Attorney role:
Experience with land use and environmental law is required
CEQA and NEPA experience is a plus
Soft Skills:
Comfortable working in a small, close-knit team with frequent collaboration.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills—both written and verbal.
Ability to handle multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently as well as in a team.
Work Schedule & Benefits (varies by company):
Hours: Flexible start and stop times; generally 8:30 am - 5:30 pm.
Billable Hour Requirement: 1700-1750 annually.
Salary Range: $125,000 to $210,000 depending on experience.
Healthcare: 100% coverage for medical, dental, and vision for employees; 50% coverage for dependents.
Retirement: 5% 401(k) match (3% matched at 100%, additional 2% matched at 50%).
Paid Time Off: Unlimited PTO, plus 10 holidays annually and 40 hours of paid sick leave.
