Job summary

Talently in New York City is seeking a litigation associate with 3-5 years of civil litigation experience to join a growing practice. Hybrid role based in NYC, working with experienced trial lawyers; handle matters from inception through trial and manage cases.

Qualifications

• Active membership in good standing with the New York Bar.
• Approximately 3-5 years of litigation experience.
• Substantive experience in commercial or civil litigation, with experience in real estate, construction, professional liability, employment practices liability, directors and officers liability, or insurance coverage.
• Deposition experience and meaningful involvement in trial practice.
• Strong motion practice, legal writing, and case management skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, sound judgment, and strong organizational skills.
• Ability to appear in person in New York City and relevant New York courts as needed.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload from inception through post-trial, including case strategy, deadlines, and day-to-day docket management.
• Draft pleadings, discovery requests and responses, motions, case status reports, and other litigation documents.
• Take depositions and participate in court conferences, oral arguments, mediations, hearings, and trials.
• Communicate directly with clients and carriers, and collaborate with partners, associates, paralegals, and other team members.
• Help drive litigation strategy and provide sound, practical guidance throughout each matter.
• Supervise and mentor junior associates and paralegals, as appropriate.
• Prioritize competing deadlines and meet annual billing expectations of approximately 2,000 hours.
