Job summary

Orion Placement in New York City is seeking a Litigation Associate to manage a sophisticated civil defense docket. You will handle motions, pleadings, discovery, depositions, hearings, and case strategy while working closely with mentors on a broad range of professional liability, securities, employment, and insurance‑related claims.

Candidates must be admitted to practice in New York and New Jersey and have 1+ year of civil litigation experience.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school.
• Active New York and New Jersey bar admission required.
• 1+ year of civil litigation experience required.
• Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and communication skills.
• Deposition, motion practice, discovery, or direct client experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage an active caseload and drive matters from initial assignment through resolution.
• Draft motions, pleadings, discovery requests, responses, and other litigation documents.
• Participate in depositions, hearings, mediations, court appearances, and case conferences.
• Communicate directly with clients and provide clear updates, recommendations, and strategic guidance.
• Conduct legal research and analyze complex factual and legal issues.
• Develop litigation strategy alongside experienced attorneys.
• Manage deadlines, discovery obligations, and competing case priorities.
• Contribute to matters involving professional liability, securities, employment, insurance-related claims, and other civil litigation.

Pay: $110,000.00 - $175,000.00 per year
