Job summary

Roig Lawyers is seeking an experienced attorney to join our defense litigation team. The attorney will independently manage a demanding caseload, develop effective defense strategies, and deliver excellent client service in a remote environment.

The ideal candidate has at least five years of defense litigation experience, is admitted to the Florida Bar, and excels in research, motions, depositions, and hearings while maintaining strong communication with clients and colleagues.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Active membership in good standing with The Florida Bar.
• Minimum of five years of defense litigation experience.
• Ability to independently manage litigation matters and develop defense strategies.
• Strong research, motion practice, discovery, and deposition skills.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage a diverse caseload of defense litigation matters from inception through resolution.
• Develop and implement litigation strategies aligned with client objectives.
• Conduct legal research and analysis to support strategy.
• Draft and argue pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses.
• Conduct and defend depositions, and represent clients at hearings and mediations.
• Manage discovery, evaluate evidence, and advise on case resolution.
• Prepare case evaluations and litigation plans for clients.
• Communicate with clients, claims professionals, opposing counsel, and experts.
• Maintain billing records and meet billable-hour requirements.

We are seeking a motivated and experienced attorney with at least five years of defense litigation experience to join our team. The ideal candidate is a proactive, detail-oriented litigator who can independently manage a demanding caseload, develop effective defense strategies, and deliver exceptional client service.

This position offers the opportunity to handle complex litigation matters on behalf of established corporate clients in a fast-paced environment that values sound legal judgment, efficiency, and strategic case management.

Key Responsibilities

• Independently manage a diverse caseload of defense litigation matters from inception through resolution.
• Develop and implement effective litigation strategies aligned with client objectives and case-specific considerations.
• Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to evaluate claims, identify defenses, and support litigation strategy.
• Draft and argue pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, and other substantive legal documents.
• Conduct and defend depositions, prepare witnesses, and represent clients at hearings, mediations, and other court proceedings.
• Manage discovery, evaluate evidence, assess litigation exposure, and develop recommendations regarding case resolution.
• Prepare case evaluations, litigation plans, status reports, and other client communications in accordance with established guidelines.
• Communicate regularly with clients, claims professionals, opposing counsel, experts, and internal legal teams regarding case developments and strategy.
• Maintain accurate billing records and meet billable-hour requirements, client guidelines, and litigation deadlines.
• Proactively anticipate case needs, identify potential issues, and advance matters with minimal supervision.
• Maintain high standards of professionalism, responsiveness, organization, and client service while managing competing priorities.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school.

• Minimum of five years of defense litigation experience required.
• Demonstrated experience independently managing litigation matters and developing effective defense strategies.
• Strong experience with legal research, motion practice, written discovery, depositions, hearings, and mediations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, analytical, negotiation, and advocacy skills.
• Proven ability to manage a substantial caseload, prioritize deadlines, and work effectively under pressure.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and sound legal judgment.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment while collaborating effectively with clients and colleagues.
• Willingness and ability to meet billable-hour requirements and comply with client-specific billing, reporting, and litigation guidelines.
