Job Description

About the Firm

We are a fast-growing boutique law firm headquartered in Greenwood Village specializing in probate litigation, will contest, trust administration, fiduciary disputes, adult conservatorships/guardianships, and estate planning. We strive to provide work-life balance, high quality of life, and mentorship and provide aggressive advocacy for our clients.

We are seeking a talented, articulate Associate Attorney with exceptional legal writing skills who wants to build a rewarding litigation practice. While prior probate experience is welcomed, it is not a requirement. We are primarily looking for a candidate with strong trial advocacy and investigative skills.

The Role

Our practice focuses on contested probate and trust litigation. You will work with the partners on complex fiduciary disputes, petition drafting, evidentiary hearings, motion practice, discovery management, and trial with opportunities to handle oral arguments, depositions, and hearings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage litigation cases from initial intake through strategy, discovery, motions practice, and trial.
  • Conduct hearings, oral arguments, depositions and trials.
  • Conduct thorough factual investigations and complex legal research to build winning case strategies.
  • Provide aggressive, fierce courtroom representation on behalf of our clients.
  • Maintain proactive communication with clients, trustees, personal representatives, conservators, court appointees, opposing counsel, and colleagues, ensuring prompt updates to keep our cases moving.
  • Take full accountability for assigned matters, exercising sound judgment and independent problem-solving while knowing when to consult firm partners.
  • Contribute actively to internal strategy discussions.
  • Research complex trust and probate issues; draft high-quality motions, pleadings, petitions, objections, and discovery requests/responses.

Qualifications

  • J.D. from an accredited law school and active license (or pending admission by motion/reciprocity) with the Colorado State Bar.
  • 0–5 years of legal experience: Recent law graduates with judicial clerkships, Moot Court, Law Review, or trial advocacy programs are encouraged to apply. Prosecutors or public defenders with trial and investigative experience are also encouraged to apply.
  • Writing & Research Skills: You must be able to turn complex facts and statutes into persuasive, tightly argued pleadings.
  • Interest in Probate & Elder Law: Prior exposure to probate, trusts, civil litigation, trial, or family law is a plus, but a sharp strategic mind and willingness to learn are paramount.
