Job description

We are seeking an ambitious and motivated Associate Attorney to join our established real estate practice. Experience in real estate is preferred, but not required. We are looking for an attorney who is eager to learn, take ownership of transactions, build strong client relationships, and grow within an established practice.

The successful candidate will receive one-on-one mentorship and training directly from a law firm partner and will have the opportunity to learn every aspect of a residential real estate closing transaction from start to finish. Within the first few weeks, the associate will begin working in a client-facing role, including closing residential real estate transactions. The goal is to provide hands‑on experience, while giving the associate the support and mentorship necessary to develop confidence and competence.

This is a full-time, in-office position based primarily in our Denver, NC office, with occasional travel to Lincolnton. While this position requires on‑site work and a consistent presence in the office, we understand that family responsibilities sometimes require flexibility. We are willing to work with the right candidate when family commitments arise, provided that client appointments and closing obligations are not impacted and any missed time is made up. Our goal is to maintain the high level of service our clients expect while also supporting our employees and their families.

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who wants more than simply a job. The ideal candidate is ambitious, personable, detail-oriented, and interested in building a long‑term career in real estate law. Applicants should enjoy meeting new people, solving problems, communicating with clients, and taking ownership of your work. You should also be comfortable receiving feedback, asking questions, and continually improving your skills. The right candidate will have the opportunity to develop into a key member of the firm's real estate practice, with increasing responsibility for transactions, client relationships, and business development.

Qualifications
  • J.D. from an accredited law school
  • Current, active license to practice law in North Carolina
  • Current appointment as a North Carolina Notary Public, or the ability to obtain this qualification within thirty days of starting
  • Experience in residential real estate is preferred but not required
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to learn
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to provide a high level of customer service
  • Ability to counsel clients and communicate effectively with staff, lenders, real estate agents, and other closing parties
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Professional demeanor and a genuine interest in building relationships within the community

  • Preparing and reviewing closing documents
  • Communicating daily with buyers, sellers, lenders, real estate agents, title insurance companies, and other closing parties
  • Managing transactions from initial preparation through final closing and post‑closing matters
  • Learning and understanding all aspects of the residential real estate closing process
  • Maintaining strong relationships with existing clients and professional referral partners
  • Representing the firm professionally in the local community
  • Developing and cultivating new professional relationships and referral sources
  • Providing practical, responsive, and solutions‑oriented legal advice
