Job description

This is where you finish your career. Not because the work slows down - because you stop looking. Most litigators spend years cycling through firms chasing the same three things: cases worth trying, a team that actually has your back, and a platform that does not force a choice between good lawyering and a full calendar. We built that one. People who get here tend to stay.

Who We Are

Burnham Law is an elite Colorado- and Arizona-based firm representing clients in domestic relations, civil litigation, probate and estate planning, and criminal defense. We work hard, support each other, and win together. Excellence, accountability, and teamwork are not wall art here - they are how we staff cases.

What You’ll Do

You step into demanding domestic relations matters where clear judgment, quick pivots, and confident courtroom presence change outcomes. Criminal defense experience is a significant plus.

You drive cases from initial evaluation through resolution alongside an experienced paralegal who owns filings, deadlines, discovery, and case preparation - so your hours go to strategy and advocacy, not administration.

Full-time, exempt. 30 billable hours per week.

  • Represent clients in domestic relations proceedings from evaluation through resolution
  • Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, and correspondence that hold up under pressure
  • Build case strategy backed by real research - then try it
  • Appear at hearings, conferences, mediations, and depositions
  • Run negotiations and settlement discussions; prepare cases for trial
  • Work shoulder-to-shoulder with attorneys, paralegals, and staff - nobody carries a case alone here
Who We’re Looking For

Attorneys with sound judgment and courtroom instincts who want depth, not churn. You know what a bad platform feels like. You are looking for the last one.

  • JD from an accredited law school and an active Colorado license in good standing
  • 2+ years practicing with extensive domestic relations experience; criminal defense is a major plus
  • Strong research, writing, and analytical skills - and the client instincts to match
  • Comfortable in a courtroom and steady when a case pivots
  • Organized enough to run multiple matters and every deadline attached to them
  • Westlaw, Filevine, and Microsoft Office preferred
  • Valid driver's license and reliable travel to courts and client meetings
Where

Colorado Springs. Remote within Colorado, hybrid, or on-site - we place the right candidate where it works. Expect to be in the office as much as possible during your first 90 days for onboarding and team integration. Monday–Friday, 8 AM–5 PM.

Benefits
  • Medical, dental, and vision - including one fully employer-paid medical plan and HSA access
  • Life, short- and long-term disability, accident, and critical illness coverage
  • Paid and unpaid time off, paid holidays, and firm-paid parental leave
  • Firm-paid CLE credits, Colorado Bar Association dues, and state registration dues
  • Quarterly luncheons, monthly lunch-and-learns, and an Employee Assistance Program
  • Flexible work arrangements, stocked snacks and beverages
  • Firm-branded gear - the good kind
