Job description

Our client, a growing litigation firm, is seeking an experienced Senior Civil Litigation Attorney to join its team. This role is ideal for a seasoned litigator who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys taking ownership of cases, and is looking for a long-term opportunity with leadership potential. The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in premises liability and general liability defense, along with the ability to independently manage matters from inception through resolution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Independently manage a full caseload of civil litigation matters from intake through resolution, including trial preparation and settlement negotiations.
  • Handle all phases of litigation, including pleadings, written discovery, depositions, motion practice, court appearances, mediations, and case strategy development.
  • Defend premises liability and general liability matters on behalf of clients across a variety of industries.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, carriers, opposing counsel, and the court regarding case status and litigation strategy.
  • Supervise and mentor junior associates, providing guidance on case handling, workflow management, and professional development.
  • Assist in managing workflow within the litigation team to ensure matters are progressing efficiently and strategically.
  • Maintain organized case files and proactively identify opportunities to resolve matters favorably and cost effectively.
  • Collaborate with firm leadership on litigation strategy, team development, and long-term growth initiatives within the practice group.
Required Qualifications
  • J.D. from an accredited law school and active license to practice law in California.
  • Approximately 8–15 years of civil litigation experience.
  • Strong background in premises liability and general liability defense matters.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage cases from inception through resolution.
  • Experience supervising, mentoring, or leading junior attorneys and support staff.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage a substantial caseload effectively.
  • Strategic thinker with a proactive and solution-oriented approach to litigation.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment while also operating independently.
