Job summary

Softcom Systems Inc. in El Segundo, CA is seeking an Associate Attorney to join our insurance defense practice. The role focuses on complex medical malpractice and elder abuse defense representing healthcare systems, hospitals, and other institutional clients.

A pathway toward partnership is emphasized as you manage litigation from start to finish with senior attorneys. You will draft pleadings, conduct depositions, and participate in court hearings, mediations, and settlement conferences.

Qualifications

• Active California State Bar membership required.
• 3–10+ years of civil litigation experience preferred.
• Experience in general liability, medical malpractice, dental malpractice, public entity defense, or professional liability is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage an active litigation caseload from inception through resolution.
• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, and other legal documents.
• Conduct legal research and prepare persuasive written advocacy.
• Take and defend depositions.
• Attend court hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and settlement conferences.
• Develop case strategy in collaboration with partners and senior attorneys.
• Communicate effectively with clients, carriers, experts, and opposing counsel.
• Maintain accurate billing and meet annual billable hour expectations.
• Mentor junior attorneys and support staff as appropriate.

Our practice includes complex medical malpractice and elder abuse defense, representing major healthcare systems, hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, and other institutional clients, as well as entertainment venues and government agencies.

Responsibilities:

• Manage an active litigation caseload from inception through resolution.
• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, and other legal documents.
• Conduct legal research and prepare persuasive written advocacy.
