Job description

Our client is seeking an Associate Attorney to join its growing Foreclosure South practice. This role is ideal for an attorney with experience in real estate law, title review, title curative work, and non-judicial foreclosure matters. The attorney will work closely with the Managing Partner and play a key role in reviewing title examinations, resolving complex title issues, managing foreclosure-related matters, and providing legal guidance to clients. This position offers the flexibility of a hybrid or remote work arrangement based on experience and location.

Key Responsibilities

• Review title examinations within 24-48 hours of receipt and identify title defects and issues
• Analyze title reports and provide legal recommendations for resolving title concerns
• Handle simple and complex title curative matters from inception through completion
• Review pleadings, loan documents, and foreclosure-related documentation to identify and resolve legal and compliance issues
• Review non-judicial foreclosure documents for accuracy and compliance with applicable laws
• Draft, review, and edit legal opinions, reports, correspondence, and foreclosure-related documents
• Manage all documentation associated with title clearance and foreclosure proceedings
• Maintain and independently manage a portfolio of files while meeting deadlines and client expectations
• Exercise sound legal judgment when assessing file-level legal and compliance matters
• Communicate effectively with clients, insurers, vendors, opposing parties, and internal teams
• Maintain accurate updates in internal and client case management systems
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, insurers, vendors, and colleagues
• Collaborate with attorneys and staff to ensure efficient case progression
• Assist with additional projects and responsibilities as needed

Ideal Candidate

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
• Active Alabama Bar license in good standing required
• Minimum of 2 years of attorney experience required
• Experience in real estate law, title review, title clearance, and title curative work
• Experience handling non-judicial foreclosure matters preferred
• Strong understanding of federal, state, and local laws affecting foreclosure and real estate matters
• Knowledge of Alabama Title Standards preferred
• Additional licensure in Georgia, Texas, or Mississippi is highly preferred
• Ability to independently manage a high-volume caseload and prioritize competing deadlines
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication abilities
• Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
• Self-motivated with strong time-management skills and ability to work independently
• Professional and confident when navigating complex or adversarial situations
• Strong client-service mindset and relationship-building abilities
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and internet research tools
