Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-depth legal research and analysis for post-conviction relief cases.
  • Draft briefs, motions, and petitions for direct appeals and habeas relief.
  • Review trial records for errors or constitutional violations.
  • Represent clients in post-conviction hearings and criminal defense matters.
  • Represent clients in all stages of criminal defense, including plea and pre-trial hearings.
  • Develop and execute defense strategies tailored to each client's case.
  • Conduct client interviews, witness preparation, and evidence review.
  • Negotiate with prosecutors for favorable outcomes.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients and colleagues for case updates.
  • Stay current on legal developments in criminal law and manage caseload efficiently.

Requirements
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in Texas or ability to obtain licensure promptly.
  • Strong interest or experience in criminal law, particularly post-conviction relief and criminal defense.
  • Excellent research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.

Education
