Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, TN, invites applications for an Associate Athletic Trainer. The role will supervise and coordinate athletic training services for student-athletes across multiple sports and assist with pre-participation evaluations, rehabilitation plans, and return-to-play decisions.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred), NATA BOC certification and state licensure, strong knowledge of NCAA/DUS rules, and CPR/AED/First Aid.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Two years of collegiate/clinical athletic training experience; Graduate Assistant experience acceptable.
  • NATA BOC certification and Tennessee licensure or eligible.
  • CPR, AED, and First Aid certification required.
  • Knowledge of NCAA, CUSA & NATABOC rules and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate athletic training services for student‑athletes in intercollegiate programs.
  • Organize and schedule pre-participation medical paperwork and physical exams.
  • Design and implement rehabilitation plans; establish return-to-play criteria.
  • Coordinate concussion and baseline testing; supervise practice, games, travel, and summer workouts.
  • Serve as a preceptor in CAATE‑accredited graduate athletic training program; supervise interns and students.
