Qualifications

Role Description

The Associate Athletic Trainer is an on-site role located in the United States, working directly with CMU student-athletes and athletic programs. This position supports the prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of sports-related injuries under the supervision of senior sports medicine staff and in collaboration with coaches and strength and conditioning personnel. Day-to-day responsibilities include providing athletic training coverage for practices and competitions, maintaining accurate medical and treatment records, and implementing evidence-based rehabilitation and return-to-play protocols. The Associate Athletic Trainer will educate student-athletes on injury prevention, wellness, and safe training techniques, while helping to coordinate referrals to physicians and other healthcare professionals. This role also participates in departmental meetings, assists with inventory and maintenance of athletic training equipment and supplies, and promotes a culture of safety, inclusion, and compliance with NCAA and institutional policies.

Qualifications
  • Professional athletic training skills, including injury prevention, clinical evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of sports-related injuries.
  • Knowledge of sports medicine protocols, emergency care procedures, and best practices for return-to-play and concussion management.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with coaches, medical staff, and administrators, and to communicate clearly with student-athletes from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills for maintaining medical records, managing schedules, and coordinating coverage for practices and events.
  • Commitment to student-athlete welfare, inclusivity, and adherence to NCAA, conference, and institutional policies and standards.
  • Current certification as an Athletic Trainer (ATC) and eligibility for state licensure or registration, as required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training or a related field; a master's degree is preferred.
  • Relevant experience working in collegiate or competitive athletics settings, including experience with a variety of sports.
