Garner Health is seeking an Associate Applied Scientist to join the Applied Science team in the US. You will own production systems end-to-end, framing problems, defining objectives, and selecting approaches from ML to heuristics.

You’ll validate results with real-world outcomes and push for impactful improvements. This role emphasizes solving hard healthcare problems, with ownership and autonomy, and requires the ability to communicate clearly with senior stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or related STEM field, with an expected graduation Fall 2026 or Spring 2027.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to translate ideas into prototypes.
• Ability to define metrics and deliver solutions that improve them.

Responsibilities

• Ship production algorithmic systems end-to-end from problem framing to launch and iteration.
• Frame healthcare constraints into clear objectives and decision frameworks.
• Define metrics to judge solution effectiveness and validate outcomes before shipping.
• Choose appropriate methods (ML, optimization, heuristics, rules) based on the problem.
• Bring new ideas and experiment with approaches to improve results.
• Produce well-validated work and review peers' analyses.
• Develop a deep understanding of the healthcare economy and Garner's role in it.
