Job summary

Garner Health is seeking a Manager, Product Applied Science in New York City. You will build and lead a team that solves core healthcare problems using ML, optimization, heuristics, or hybrid approaches.

You’ll own the end-to-end production systems, define objective functions, and ship measurable improvements in total cost of care, steerage, and engagement. The role blends strategic leadership with hands-on coding and data work, requiring close collaboration with Research, Product, Engineering,

Qualifications

• 6+ years in Applied Science, ML, or research roles; PhD preferred.
• Strong technical credibility, with the ability to lead scientists while staying hands-on.
• Good judgment in selecting models, heuristics, or optimization methods based on the problem.
• Strong applied problem-solving skills with the ability to define metrics and deliver solutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of 4–6; hire, coach, and develop talent while raising the bar on rigor and speed.
• Own the Population Health outputs as a core responsibility.
• Own your team's roadmap and delivery—what gets built and when it ships.
• Set technical direction and stay close to code and data to guide methods used.
• Define metrics to judge success and validate solutions before shipping.
• Translate ambiguous business goals into concrete problems with stakeholders.
• Demonstrate hands-on problem solving to drive metric improvements.
