Job summary

Garner Health is hiring a Senior Applied Scientist to design, develop, and deploy algorithmic systems powering our healthcare products. You will frame problems, select approaches, and ship solutions end-to-end, balancing ML, optimization, and heuristics to deliver real-world impact.

The ideal candidate brings 4+ years in applied science or 2+ years with an advanced degree, strong problem-solving ability, and the communication skills to align stakeholders across teams.

Qualifications

• 4+ years in Applied Scientist or related roles; or 2+ years with an advanced degree (PhDs preferred).
• Ability to translate messy real-world healthcare problems into clear objectives and metrics.
• Strong hands-on experience with ML models, optimization, heuristics, and production systems.

Responsibilities

• Own high-stakes problems end-to-end in an applied science context.
• Frame real-world healthcare constraints into actionable objectives and tradeoffs.
• Define metrics to judge solution performance and validate before shipping.
• Choose appropriate methods (ML, optimization, heuristics, rules) per problem.
• Develop novel framing and solutions and set evaluation standards.
• Build deep understanding of the healthcare economy and Garner's role.
