Job summary

The Hanover Insurance Group, Inc. in Worcester, MA is seeking an Associate Application Engineer to design, develop, and maintain high-quality software solutions in a hybrid work arrangement.

You will participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle from requirements gathering to deployment and maintenance. This full-time, exempt role requires building reliable full‑stack solutions, collaborating with architects, business analysts, and QA engineers, and ensuring code quality

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field or 3+ years of professional software development experience.
  • Strong work ethic, prioritization skills, and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of React.js.
  • Knowledge of Java and Spring Boot.
  • Excellent problem‑solving and analytical abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong understanding of monitoring, observability, and application performance management.
  • Must be eligible to work in the US without requiring sponsorship now or in the future.

Responsibilities

  • Build highly reliable full‑stack solutions using React.js and Spring Boot.

Our Information Technology department is seeking an Associate Application Engineer to join our growing team in our Worcester, MA Corporate Headquarters in a hybrid work arrangement.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

In this role, you will play a crucial part in designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality software solutions. You will participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle from requirements gathering to deployment and maintenance.

This is a full-time, exempt role.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Build highly reliable full‑stack solutions using React.js and Spring Boot.
  • Build new applications, prototypes, and proof‑of‑concept solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including architects, business analysts, and QA engineers.

WHAT YOU NEED TO APPLY:

BONUS POINTS FOR:

  • Experience with containerization (Kubernetes, Docker).
  • Experience using GitHub Copilot or similar AI‑assisted development platforms.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated builds, and deployments.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Experience with UX/UI concepts and front‑end best practices.
